2017 – 2018 Application:  HERE

We would like to introduce you to a wonderful public school alternative for your child, The Grove Patterson Academy, an Excellent Rated, tuition-free Kindergarten through 8th grade school open to all students who live in Toledo and surrounding areas.

While attending GPA, your child will experience a rigorous research based Success for All Reading curriculum (K-6 only), combined with a positive school climate that encourages self motivation in students; a specially selected and committed faculty who maintain high expectations for your student’s success; and an enriched physical environment with Foreign Language instruction in Spanish. Your child will also benefit from “Instructional Looping” of 1st and 2nd grade and 3rd and 4th grade, allowing teachers to remain with your child for two years of concentrated instruction. Students are further supported by technologically up-to-date classrooms and a state of the art computer lab. Students are required to adhere to strict attendance, discipline and uniform policy to enhance expectations for student success and learning as well as a commitment from families who are required to volunteer 10 hours per year. School bus transportation is provided for all TPS students that reside more than 2 miles from school and live within the Toledo Public School district.

Two Prospective Family Tours will be offered this year. (1.) Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 9:00-10:30. (2.)Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 9-10:30 A.M. Please RSVP by emailing your reservation gparegistrations@tps.org . Each tour is limited to the first 25 families. Additional information and a copy of our school handbook is available online at www.grovepattersonpto.org and should be reviewed prior to attending the tour.

Applications are accepted year round however additional vacancies that become available after May 1, 2017 will continue to be filled on a lottery basis. Space is limited. To begin the process of enrollment, you must complete one (1) application form for each child (Kindergarten-8th ) you wish to enroll for the 2017-2018 school year.

A lottery will take place for students at grade levels where a vacancy exists. Students whose names are drawn will be notified of their selection via email. Parents have one week to notify the secretary whether they accept or decline the spot. If parents do not meet the deadline, the position is declared vacant and another lottery draw is held. Parents will receive written notification of the status of their child’s application no later than May 1, 2017. Student’s who are not selected will have their applications remain on file until October of 2017. If a student is not selected, you must reapply.

Kindergarten: A child must be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2017 in order to enroll in kindergarten. Contact your home school of residence for information on Early Admissions Testing.

Grove Patterson Academy (GPA) values diversity within the student population and welcomes children of all races, sexes, nationalities, and religions.

GPA considers the records of all individual students to be confidential information available to a child’s parents/guardian upon a request in writing.

GPA reserves the right to refuse admission or to remove a child if school personnel believe that his/her educational needs cannot be met in the GPA learning environment.

All families must complete an application and sign a Parent Agreement regarding the expectations set forth for academics, attendance and behavior. Newly accepted students and families are required to attend a new family orientation session which will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6:15-7:30 P.M. in the school cafeteria. This meeting will begin promptly. Students who are selected over the summer will be scheduled prior to the start of school. A GPA Family Panel is responsible for monitoring and enforcing this agreement.

GPA requires each family to attend (1) Parent Teacher Conference per year, volunteer 10 hours per school year per family, maintain a strict adherence to the school discipline code and dress code, and a commitment to assisting their child/ren with homework/classroom assignments on a daily basis.

Applications for admission are available throughout the year from the school office, www.tps.org and www.grovepattersonpto.org. Spaces are filled as vacancies become available. Families that are not selected must reapply for admission each school year. No waiting list exists for GPA except for siblings.

Class sizes are limited to 22 students in each classroom to ensure optimum learning opportunities for students.
