Due to Success for All starting on September 8, 2015 Mid-Quarter Progress Reports will not be sent home at the same time as the regular Toledo Public School Progress Reports. Success for All Progress Reports will be sent home with your child(ren) on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. This will give teachers the needed time to accurately inform you about your child’s progress. You will also receive a reminder later this month.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Stephanie Grant spent the morning at Grove Patterson looking for courses to help her be a better parent to her 6 year old daughter.
Grant tells 13 ABC, “I think its important because as a parent we always want the best for our kids and whatever we can do to make their life easier for them to grow as a child into adulthood ..its important for us to do that for our kids.” Parent University is offering several courses to parents free of charge. It’s a collaboration between TPS, Partners in Education and parents.
Parents can take a variety of courses from healthy cooking to positive discipline and that’s not all.
TPS Superintendent Dr. Romules Durant tells 13 ABC,”there are going to be over 30 course offerings for parents as well as showing them opportunities to advance their own education whether its a GED or a University…we have what’s called UT at TPS…so they are able to do a lot in the vicinity of the school their child attends.”
TPS School board member Chris Varwig says,” I wish as a parent when my child was going through the school system, I wish I had classes like this that would help me, it’s connecting with other parents. It’s a judgement free zone…our parents are so essential to what our students do in the classrooms.”
Parents and guardians can register for classes by clicking here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1FJTadYY7UidTqX8BDNImyzouYKSo9uN9MCbmQl2NZlI/viewform

Dear Grove Patterson Academy Parents and Community,
I want to officially welcome all of you to the 2015-2016 school year! Summer has come and gone and we are excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected and a part of the Grove Patterson Academy family. At Grove Patterson Academy, we have outstanding teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning. Our teachers use research based practices and analyze academic data to determine current skills and to set goals for growth and improvement. Additionally we strive to challenge every student to grow in his/her academic abilities and social skills and to receive all the preparation to not only be prepared for the demands of high school and college but to be prepared for life.
I am honored to continue to serve you as the principal of Grove Patterson Academy. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. The elementary years are critical times of development for students and families and I look forward in working with all of you to make this school year successful. I am a lifelong educator and I am committed to students and families as well as a love for learning.
I’d also like to invite you to visit our website often and to find the information helpful and informative. Our website serves as a resource tool for all upcoming events, student/parent handbook, club/organizations as well as other important reminders. All the information we send out via email can also be found on this website. By the start of the school year we will also have all dates entered for all events and activities into the “Calendar” feature on our website. Additionally we have a very active Facebook page (Grove Patterson PTO) that I encourage each and everyone of you to “Like” to receive the most up to date and current information.
In closing, please enjoy the remaining days of summer. I look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces at Open House on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. as well as on our first day of school. Our vision of success begins August 25, 2015.
Mrs. Herneika L. Johnson
Grove Patterson Academy Principal
